To The Christian Girl Having Sex - Part 2
Last Time
In my first post I gave you 3 steps for healing. If you are a Christian girl having sex, I encourage you to read Part 1 first!
God's Love
If you are here because you read my last post and it resonated with you...let's talk a bit about God's character and how much He loves you! When we see ourselves the way God sees us we begin making more informed decisions...not ones skewed by how we perceive ourselves or through lies the enemy is throwing at us.
God says you (as a follower of Christ) are...
- HOLY
- Hebrews 10:14-17 says, "For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy. The Holy Spirit also testifies to us about this. First he says: 'This is the covenant I will make with them after that time, says the Lord. I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds.' Then he adds: 'Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more."
- By the blood of Jesus we have been made holy! We need not dwell in our current sins or our sins of out pasts. Our sinfulness is remembered no more! Let us live free of that sin and cling to what God has for us.
- NOT CONDEMNED
- Romans 8:1-2 says, "Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives you life has set you free from the law of sin and death."
- We are set free from sin and death! There is nothing we have to do to enjoy this gift. Let us see the love of God and quit striving for perfection. Stop beating yourself up for making mistakes. Acknowledge them, repent from them, and move on. God does not condemn us so let's not condemn ourselves.
- A CHILD OF GOD
- John 1:12 says, "Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God-"
- We are considered children of God. THE GOD. THE ONE TRUE GOD. If you have children or even long for them... you can imagine the kind of love God has for YOU.
- FORGIVEN
- Psalms 103:10-12 says, "he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east us from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us."
- Thankfully Christ does not repay our sin in the way that we deserve. Although the world around us may scream for all the things we are "entitled to"...it's really nothing. We are entitled to nothing. We "deserve" nothing. BUT, his love is so great the he REMOVES our transgressions. He doesn't just cover them up...He actually takes them away.
- LOVED
- Romans 5:8 says, "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
- Again, this verse is just too good and it really says it all. WHILE you were in the midst of your sins, Christ died for YOU.
Next Time
In my next post I will talk about God's plan for us as Christians and some of the things he says to us about sex and relationships. Stay tuned!
For some extra reading and study I cannot recommend Lysa Terkeurst and Priscilla Shirer enough! Lysa has a book called "Uninvited" that really helped me and my "identity crisis". I also did a study recently by Priscilla called "The Armor of God" and it was seriously life changing. She covers a lot in this study but has a whole section on our identity in Christ.
I hope all is well with you! Please reach out if you need anything, have questions, or need prayer. Don't forget, you are completely loved by THE ONE TRUE GOD. Live in that reality every single day.
Much love,
Amanda
